Please stop by Urban Reviews and check out my latest review and interview. Illusions received the Top Shelf Award.

“Illusions by Wanda B. Campbell is one of the best books I have read in a longtime. This book pulls on every emotion you could ever imagine. You laugh, you cry, and you scream like you would do if you were watching a very intense movie.”

Literary Spotlight

Monday, April 6th, 2009

This week I am honored to shine the spotlight on my literary sister from The Writer’s Hut on-line group, Roishina Clay Henderson.

A Mississippi native, Roishina Clay Henderson is a former journalist with a mass communications degree from Jackson State University. She now works in public relations. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and son. Henderson is working on her second novel.

Roishina, tell us about your latest book release.

Make Me Wholeis my debut novel that was released December 2008. The story journeys through the lives of three Atlanta women, Jacky, Neicy and Cee-Cee, who battle broken faith in God, infidelity and resentment.  Jacky is bad with her finances and has abandoned God after the death of her mother. Neicy is physically attractive from head to toe and knows it. Men love Neicy’s pretty face and nice curves, and she doesn’t reject their advances. Only, she’s married and still trying to make her marriage work. Cee-Cee was once career-minded but gave all that up to be a mother and wife to a minister/attorney. She doesn’t reciprocate the love her devoted husband gives. A trip to the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) convocation just may turn their broken lives around. Recognizing they really should be relying on God to be made whole, the ladies search for a spiritual rejuvenation. Can the ladies find joy, peace and forgiveness?

Sounds like an emotionally and spritually charged novel. What inspired you to write Make Me Whole?

It’s a story that I feel God gave me to share. I’ve also had a love for writing since I was a little girl. I told God that I was going to write what He gave me, and I was for real that time. With a sincere heart, new determination and love for writing, I was inspired to do His will.

What advice would you give aspiring writers?

Press forward and make your dream become a reality. You can do it. Get focused, and think about the reward in the end: your words in print that you’ll get to share with the world! Somebody out there needs to read your work.

What can readers expect next from Roishina Clay Henderson?

I’m currently working on the sequel to Make Me Whole. Readers can expect some surprises and a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Where can readers purchase Make Me Whole?

Books can be purchased from my website: www.roishina.com and all major on-line book retailers. On my website, readers can also read an except from Make Me Whole as well as view my literary calendar.

Roi, my sister, thank you for visiting my blog. Many blessings to you and much success in your literary career. Remember, with God all things are possible.
